THE FIRST TIME ON THE STAGE

Wow!  The first time I did comedy was at the Comedy Attic in Bloomington, IN.  I was told I needed to bring 10 people to get 5 minutes of stage time. Thirty friends showed up. Yes, 30! 

I reworked my winning Toastmasters’ speech to a stand-up format and did my first set. “I never wanted to be a comic, I always wanted to be a singer, but…...!”  Toastmasters and Transcendental Meditation had prepared me to face the audience.  

Without Toastmasters and deep breathing, I would have never ventured on stage. It was great!  I knew I had to keep writing and performing. I loved the immediate feedback of laughter from the audience. I was hooked.
